Hi,
I had a sparcstation 2 languishing around and I just made it work for
the fun of it. Now I'd like to install a Sun OS on it and I'm not sure
if Solaris is going to work. What can I install on it and where can I
find the CDs/binaries etc. ?

Thanks.

Solaris 8 or 9 should work on a SS2.
I don't think Solaris 10 will work on a SS2.

You need to create a login, but it looks like you can download a Solaris 9
9/05 SPARC CD at:

http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/9/index.xml

SunOS 4.1.4 was the last pre-Solaris-2.0 release.
Solaris 7 was the last Solaris to support the sun4c architecture.
Linux for sun4c SPARC existed once upon a time, but I don't know what
current releases, if any, still support it. If you're looking to go that
route, you might have better luck finding a sun4c *BSD (OpenBSD, NetBSD,
etc.), since Linux tends to be x86-oriented.
