Why bother playing with PC UNIX on a CISC box when you can work
with the real thing on RISC boxes?

These are the same versions of UNIX that power the large servers in the
back-office environments. Work with HP-UX 11.x, Solaris 8/9/10 (for Sparc),
IBM AIX V5.x, or SGI IRIX 6.5.24 at home or elsewhere without the risks.
These make excellent learning tools / development boxes, and you can
also set up your own UNIX network cluster or install Oracle, etc.
The uses are many!

This truly is "RISC without the RISK" ;^)

FYI: These systems originally cost anywhere from $10,000 to $2,500,000!
And, although they may not be considered cutting edge today, they still
easily run the latest versions of HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, or IRIX.
You can own one for just a tiny fraction of original cost, in fact as much
as 99% off the original list price!

Please also enquire about our UNIX CBTs...save time and money by learning
UNIX at home in your spare time.

Again, buy more than one system and take advantage of additional discounts
of 10-15% (as per the website). With valid student or educator ID, you'll
save even more! Ask for details.

$445 for an Ultra 5 with only 128 MB RAM. $595 for a U10 with 512 MB.

Just today I bought an Ultra 60 from eBay, 1 GB RAM, 18 GB hard disk for
£60 (about $107). Generally the US is cheaper than the UK. I've been
offere several Ultra 60s for a lot less than you want for an Ultra 5.

Yes, good deal, or if you are tight for cash, you can save $25 and buy
an Ultra 10 from 'UnixHQ'.

Dead right. Here in NL the going price for an Ultra5 is between EUR 25
and EUR 50. I picked up my U10 with 1GB and 2x 9GB HDD for EUR 25 -
admittedly rather cheap, but similarly specced systems can be found for
less than EUR 100 with monitor, keyboard and mouse included. And the
'States are supposed to be cheaper...

That is roughly what UnixHQ paid me for U5s and U10s - probably the very
same machines. I sold them sans OS.

I wonder if UnixHQ ever manage to sell anything at their very high
prices? I guess they must.

I guess so - I've sold about 40 Sun boxes to them in the last 18 months,
and they inquire about my inventory regularly. They have paid me fair
prices. Perhaps I could get more selling one at a time to end users, but
probably not enough to justify the additional logistics - unless I could
get their prices!
