Hi

I'd quite like to have a Sun v250, which near as I can tell
retailed at about $3000 new. The cheapest I've seen it is
$3000, but most places are asking $7000 for them.

Is there anywhere I should look for a more reasonable price?

Cheers, Liam

Its a fairly newish SPARC system using parts that would still fit into
relatively newish SPARC machines.

You don't really see much dropoff until all the system is really
far off the curve.

In this case, your biggest cost is probably CPU's and RAM. Your
starting MSRP price is too low as well. Ie. You are probably pricing
it with the small single CPU, and minimal RAM, and the places are
selling them with the bigger dual CPU, and lots of RAM. Sun RAM and
CPU used prices don't waver much until the technology is too far gone.

As far as I can tell, MSRP new on a single CPU, with 512M was $4900.
MSRP new on a dual CPU with 8GB of RAM was $8500.
